Aftercare

Here are some tips for using an adhesive bandage for tattoo aftercare:

Application

Cut a piece of the bandage to fit the tattoo, then apply it with light pressure from the center to the edges. Avoid stretching the bandage.

Duration

Leave the bandage on for 4–7 days, as recommended by your artist. You can apply a second or third bandage if needed, but don't wear it for more than one week.

Removal

Gently peel the bandage back over itself while under warm running water. Avoid pulling the bandage upwards.

Washing

After removing the bandage, wash the tattoo with unscented soap and warm water.

Lotion

Use unscented lotion for the remainder of the healing process.

Adhesive Derm type Shield bandages are made of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and polyurethane. They are designed to protect tattoos from dirt, bacteria, germs, and abrasion, while allowing the tattoo to breathe and heal naturally.
